This guide walks through how to use your performance pads as well as edit, create and utilize your loop selections when using Serato DJ with the Numark Mixtrack Pro II.

The Performance Pads

The performance pads have three different modes to choose from:

  • LOOP
  • SAMPLE (S)
  • CUE (C)

To select a mode, press:

  • SHIFT + LOOP for LOOP Mode
  • SHIFT + SAMPLE for SAMPLE Mode
  • SHIFT + CUE for CUE Mode
Mix

The LED will light up below the pad indicating which mode is active. When you're in LOOPMode:

  • The LOOP IN and LOOPOUT pads are used to place the IN and OUT points of the manual loop.
  • The RELOOP function will turn the loop ON or OFF.

You can set the Auto Loops by holding:

  • SHIFT + AUTO1
  • SHIFT +AUTO2
  • SHIFT +AUTO4
  • SHIFT +AUTO16

How Do You Select Between Manual And Auto Loop?

You have up to 8 loops per track in Serato DJ. You have a choice between either manual or auto loops. You can choose whether you have 4 loops or 8 loops. To switch between Manual and Auto looping, click (Manual) or (Auto) onscreen.

You can also choose to have half or double the loop length in either manual or auto modes. Press the 1/2X button to half the loop length, hold SHIFT + 1/2X button to double the loop legnth.

Edit IN & OUT Of A Loop

The best way to edit the in and out point of a loop is to turn or move your jog wheel/platter on your Mixtrack Pro II.

Loop IN - Set'sthe loop in point (Loop is not active)

Loop IN - Adjusts the loop in point (Loop is active)

Loop OUT - Set's the loop out point (If the loop in point is set)

Loop OUT - Adjusts the loop out point (Loop is active)

Reloop - Exit Loop (Loop is active)

Reloop - Reloop (Loop is not Active)

Saving Loops

You can save loops in the next available free loop slot in the Serato DJ software. To do this, either click the button in the manual/auto loop tab or click on an available loop slot. Your loops are saved to the file and recalled the next time it is loaded. They are not lost if the file is moved or renamed.

Numark Mixtrack Pro Setup in Traktor LE

Mixtrack Pro is a complete DJ system that works with your Mac or PC. Mixtrack Pro's classic two-turntables-and-a-mixer setup connects to your computer so you can scratch, mix, loop, and much more. Mixtrack Pro comes with Serato DJ Intro. In Europe and Asia, Native Instruments' Traktor LE is also included. This guide walks through the installation and setup of the Mixtrack Pro in Traktor LE.

Install Traktor LE

First, insert the CD into the computer and launch your installation wizard. Follow the prompts as indicated throughout the installation process.
Note: Traktor LE is only included with Mixtrack Pro units sold in Europe and Asia.


Launch Service Center

  1. After installing the Traktor LE software, ensure that you have the latest version of Traktor by launching the Service Center. In the Traktor software, click on Help -> Launch Service Center.
  2. In the Service Center, click on the Update tab to see if you have the latest version installed. If there is an update available, please update your software.

Configure the Controller Settings

  1. Connect Mixtrack Pro to computer.
  2. Start up Traktor LE 2 software.
  3. In the Traktor LE 2 software, select FILE then CONTROL MANAGER.
  4. Select Setup Wizard.

Utilizing the Setup Wizard

  1. Follow the steps in Setup Wizard. Are you using an external controller? Select YES then click on NEXT.
  2. Select Numark as the manufacturer. Choose Mixtrack PRO LE as the model.
  3. Select your setup. Select Track Decks + 2 Sample Decks (Scratch).
  4. Click on FINISH.

Configure Audio Settings

  1. Under Control Manager and Device, select Mixtrack LE – Generic MIDI (All Ports, All Ports).
  2. Next, select Audio Setup. In Audio Setup under Audio Device, select Mixtrack Pro (DirectSound).
  3. Then click on CLOSE. You are now ready to use your Numark Mixtrack Pro with Traktor LE 2!
